תהליך פיתוח תרופות הוא ממושך, מורכב, יקר ובעל רמת סיכון גבוהה . התהליך כרוך גם בפיתוח והתאמת חומרי אריזה לשמירה על יציבות התרופה ולהתאמת המינון ואופן המתן . הרגולציה המלווה את האריזה מתווית ע"י נהלים מטעם הרשויות השונות ומכתיבה תכנון וארגון הפיתוח והייצור של המוצר. מטרת יום העיון היא להקנות מושגים עקרוניים ומהותיים בתהליך האריזה תוך שימת דגש על ההיבטים הטכנולוגיים והרגולטוריים . דגש מיוחד יושם על אריזת מוצרים סטריליים.
